Unbury Your Hidden Talent

This blog was inspired by comedian/actor D. L. Hugely and Farrah Gray who is a businessman, motivational speaker, and author. They both shared a post over a month ago that basically said, if, we do not come out with a new skill, talent, and or business after being in "shelter in place" we all basically wasted valuable time. What they both shared made me think about one of my favorite scripture in the Bible. Matthew chapter 25 verses 14 – 30. For those that are not familiar with this scripture please read it. I am just going to briefly break it down and connect it to what D. L. Hugely and Farrah Gray post.

A man was a master over three servants. He left one in charge of five talents, a second with two talents, and the third with one. The one with five talents made them to ten, the second with two talents made two more, and the third servant with one buried his. When the man (the master) returned he was happy with the one who turned the five into ten and he was happy with the second who made the two into four. But he was unhappy with the third who buried his. The master called him a wicked and slothful servant! Most people when they read this scripture they think of the talents as money because that is how it is described in the Bible. But we cannot forget this is a parable that Jesus was sharing.

A parable is a story that Jesus would share with his disciples and people as a lesson, but it has other meanings. One of the meanings, I got out of it is to use our talent (s) that God blessed us with. That talent could be singing, rapping, dancing, acting, speaking, teaching, and or training. Whatever talent God blessed you with because we all have our own talent. I bear witness that I have buried one or more of my talents. I used to be an underground/local rap artist and I had my very own independent record label called DemIGod records. I was also a songwriter and a poet. When I was married and after we had my oldest daughter, I buried my music. I stopped!! I made attempts to get back started but I did not have support, I did not have the right people in my circle to encourage me and to help inspire me.

Do you have the right people around you and in your circle? Or do you have around you people I call “Spirit Killers”? People who always tell you what you cannot do, or you are wasting your time. Since we've been in shelter in place thanks to the Coronavirus, I made myself some new goals. I took some money I had saved and invested in some side businesses. I bought some beats to start writing some new rap songs, which I plan to do an album, and I am doing one of my goals that I made nearly ten years ago. I am doing that goal right now!! That goal was to become a blogger.

Some people are great speakers, some are greater writers, some are great doers, and others are just great naysayers/haters. Ask yourself, which one are you? And ask yourself do you have a talent or talents you are not using and if so why? If you answered yes. Then do what I am doing-

UNBURY YOUR HIDDEN TALENT!!
